They are going to add a property allowing you to specify the EPG source (E.G. XMLTV OR Internal EPG) for each encoder!!!

This will allow you to use the internal Zap2it data provided by Sage on one tuner, and XMLTV data on another tuner.

Also, I believe this means that if you are using a "non-networked" encoder, then you could add the encoder a second time, enable different channels for each instance of that encoder, and then configure separate EPG data for each.

The "missing link" for those of us using MyTheatre, is that you cannot add the network encoder more than once. I was thinking of asking Peter to see if he could create a version of his plugin that would allow two sets of MyTheatre favorites from the same DVB card to be served up on different TCP ports. This would almost solve our problem, except if you had two shows programmed at the same time Sage would think that it had two tuners, instead of one, and would try to tune that channel causing one show to not record. I don't remember for sure, but I don't think this was an issue with the "non-networked" encoder, because Sage seemed to know that even though the encoder was listed twice, it was still only one tuner.
Why would the fact the encoder is networked prevent us from adding it a second time? I can currently add my 2 networked DVB cards twice, just like I can ad my AIW 9800 or FusionHDTV (both local) twice.

In any case this is fantastic news and we're that much closer to having the ideal setup. Any ETA on when we can expect the release?

I'll have to try this again, but when I tried it a couple months ago, when I added the network encoder a second time the first one was automatically deleted. Maybe it was the version of beta that I was using at the time.

Did you add it through the gui or through the properties file?

They said in "the next version"(hopefully they meant beta release).

I think I'll go ahead and request the MT plugin change from Peter.

Brainfart, I don't need to request a fix from Peter if I can add my network encoder more than once. I will try it tonight.

If you add a 2nd source using the same capture device, you have to make sure the 2 sources don't share any channels, or else the previous one will be removed. That might be what you ran into.

I'm glad they figured it out and prehaps will see it in the next release.

It's about time they added epg info per tuner/encoder

now if only they can get the rest of Sage working correctly, I'll be happy camper.

only time will tell
