yes, upgrade to 185, the latest one, and turn off service mode and use just the sagetv.exe and do one thing at a time and see if your problems go away.
also what version of sage are you running ? |

I will try that. I am currently running the latest production release 4.1.3. I don't have a beefy box for the server, so I will try the new drivers first...

I have seen the problem in service and normal mode. I will run for a while with DScaler codecs and see if it happens but I am pretty sure it is not related to the MPEG2 decoders.... We shall see.

4.1.6 does not fix the errors for me.... It may be making them occur less reguarly.. but I can't figure it out

Hmm. this happens to me too. I actually noticed it before upgrading to the beta version and was the reason for me trying out the beta software.
The issue though is that it happens irregularly.. sometimes i'll go a few days without it happening, then all of a sudden it'll happen 3-4 times within a day. I dont get it. |

I'm seeing this behaviour as well. It happens only intermittently, and when it does I end up having to kill the front-end (sagetv.exe) and restart it. I am using the NVIDIA PureVideo 1.02.185 decoders, and I am running SageTV as a service.

Thread raised from the dead! This happens to me too with 5.04. Any solutions? (I am not running Sage as a service, BTW.)

I'm pretty sure I am locked into 1.4.x but I will double check. Thanks for the lead.

i get this problem intermittently as well. I'm interested in your results of dialing Java back. I've noticed the problem on both saved TV files and imported video files.

I've started getting this every once in a while about a month ago. Now its getting to where it does is several times a day. I run sagetv client on the same machine as the server which runs in service mode.
When I get to the end of a show, it will often hang and task manager shows sagetv.exe running at 100% CPU and around 250MB memory. I have left it for 15 minutes and it does not stop unless I kill it manually. I took the suggestion of dialing back my Java version from 1.5.x to 1.4.x and it had no effect for me. I am contemplating reinstalling the OS, but hate to spend that much time on it. Another thread mentioned too many favorites might do it, so I removed some of my old favorites and and will see if that makes a difference. I am also defragging one of my recordings drives at the suggestion of another post.

For what it's worth, when this happens to me recordings still happen, even though the client seems to be frozen.
