It looks like the Roku Photobridge will not play AVI, DivX, WMV, files or have AC3 Audio Codec. Can a Roku owner confim this? And I believe you said it would read the Sage files, but not in their "natural" state? I assume you just have to browse to the directory to list the files, select and play?

So far I have a list of HD media players as:
Roku Photobridge - HD1000 (no AVI/DivX playback? )
AVeL Link Player - AVLP2/DVDLA
Buffalo - LinkTheater High-Definition
KiSS - DP-600 (linksys under a fancy website)
Helios - X3000/X5000 Network Media Player
D-Link - DSM-520 MediaLounge Wireless HD Media Player (has a wired port as well)
Zensonic - Z500 High Definition Network DVD Media Player (they got all the words in one model name )

Anyone have any to add to this? If so I'll update this post. - Found More:

Correct. It does not play other formats than mpg/mpeg2/.ts files. It can play very high bandwidth files over a network and does not need server software. Just browse the file, select and play from a network share. It is also UPnP, so works well other trancoding UPnP servers such as nero, etc..So it can play the files, but not in their native format. The app for video on the Roku is MPlay it works very well on the roku as a player, bookmarks, aspect ratio, cover art, resume playback where you left off etc. I am just now looking at germsage stv that will write .my files that would contain recording description. Mplay can be configured to read this data so that at least one could view the sage program recording data while using the roku for playback.

If anyone has not seen what the roku can do with Mplay to play video, it works great and no pc necessary to mess with for playback of sd/hdtv.

Hope that makes sense.

I would just build an PC SageTV client for the media room.
Reading my original question, I just thought the same thing. I'd have to build a very quiet PC, but I think that would be a good idea.

I didn't think Sage did HD transrating down to SD for the extender. Can someone confirm this for me?

Thanks,
