I've been looking for a fix for this bug for a while and making the above change seems to have fixed it! I really missed the watched bars but they never worked.

As for the arc on the bar, is barely noticeable off, in many respects I like the flat bar better.

hmm, I haven't done this before, but it seems to me that the change is made by hacking the .xml file of the same name as the active .stv, and the line edit looks like this:
<CornerArc>0</CornerArc>
but now sage gets stuck in the GUI initialize phase....
and OH NO, when I edit is back it still won't start properly, uh oh.
help please!

gee, thanks for the help.
I ended up re-installing the STV. Also upgraded my nvdia drivers. I do not seem to have the problem with distorted menus anymore.
