Robert,

I am only doing RAID 5 for Data protection...lets one drive fail and no data loss. I prefer the Seagate drives myself, but the noise is not so much a factor since the server is a closet in the next room. I have been contemplating the Maxline III drives becasue they are cheaper at 300GB size...but I have not really liked Maxtor drives...Seagate and WD drives have never failed...but 3 failed Maxtor Drives in as many years.

Ahhh, then RAID 5 certainly makes sense.

I have no love of Maxtor either, hence it was not even mentioned. Even my friends who need a drive, I tend to stear them towards Newegg despite the fact Maxtor can be picked up at any local Best Buy or CompUSA.
