The plugin has nothing to do with the extender, if you can view Mytheatre on Sagetv, either the server or a client via live tv than you can view it on the extender. As far as I know, the mytheatre plugin works with 3.38 (last version of mytheatre), I have not tested it with then new mytheatre 4.00 beta1. I have migrated to dvbdream and that has worked very well for me. There is also another plugin for Dvbviewer if interested.

Hope that helps

Yup, the HD100 plays DVB recordings better than client IMO.

Hi - not sure if I made myself clear. I have MyTheatre, with this plugin, connected to SageTV (on the same box) all working right now. I just wanted to make sure if I buy an HD extender that it will also work with this setup, before I dump $250 on it and a Sage license.

Due to a renewed interest in DVB-S & DVB-S2 support for my latest HTPC Project ( Self interest is a great motivator ) I've been recently modifying the code base of the plugin to support the recording of TS ( in addition to the existing PS support ) for MT 3.38.2. A part of these changes I've also added support for the new version of MyTheatre 4.x ( As it will no longer support the recording of PS - although the current Beta still appears to ).

As such, I'm interested in any feedback on any existing bugs or foibles with the current plugin which I can rectify at the same time. Once I've done some more testing on my rig and made any suggested changes I'll make the new plugin available for testing by those who may want to venture down this path. I will add that I am about to go on a weeks holiday so there won't be much activity from a deliverable perspective until post 24/8..

Cheers

Peter

Hi, I have some feedback.

- Why the requirement to create a favorites group - is that really needed? Maybe it is I don't know the details of the DVBCORE API. It's kind of a pain after every re-scan to have to go muck around with the favorites.

- It would be neat to be able to telnet to a port in the plugin and see debug status or something like that. Might help for remote troubleshooting of the box.

How would you reference them from the plugin? After a scan, any channel not previously used doesn't have a number whether it's on a favourite or not, so you'd still need to assign a number. For me, using a favourite is a non-issue, especially if you remove all the other faves so SageTV is the only one in the list.

Seems like a lot of work for a simple plugin, when it's easy just to VNC into your box and look at the logs!

Ther only thing that I'm unhappy with in this plugin right now are Saar's plans for v4 rather than the plugin itself (which has always worked really well, thanks Peter ). If it moves to TS recording I realise Sage can handle it, but I'm not sure my overnight batch conversions to AVI will. So after waiting an age for a decent MT update, I don't think the v4 final will be usable...

It is my understanding that by default the plugin references channels by their callsign anyway. It only uses the channel number if you check that box in the config. So I stll don't offhand know why the favorites is needed, unless you had a custom XMLTV lineup.

Anyway even if you needed the channel number you could just use the SID, when you scan your channels they already have SID set, and (at least for NA DSS) the SID is always the same as the channel number in the XMLTV lineup.

There is no problem with removing the requirement for a favourite for those who don't want to use it. I implemented it so as I could see out what channels were in use by SageTV as opposed to all the channels available on the Satellite in a logical manner.. Whether you use it or not can then become a personal choice.. One thing to note is that MT changes channel by CHID or Channel Number, not by SID. MyTheatre stores both a SID and a CHID in its internal database for a particular service...The fact that a CHID defaults to be the same as the SID appears to be a convention implemented within MyTheatre.

As an update, I have managed to implement TS capture within MT 3.38.2 successfully at this stage. There appear to be a few issues with playback within SageTV when using various Video Codecs. But the good news is that the channel changes appear to be significantly quicker than when recording PS. At least in my ( admittedly very simple ) setup.

Cheers

Peter

teletext subtitle support?

Hi,
Would it be possible to implement teletext subtitle support in this plugin? So both live TV and recordings plays with subtitles?
StephaneM seems to have it working for recordings in his dvbviewer recorder plugin together with stv import.

I know you are the developer of the plugin and probably enjoy the process as much as the outcome... but have you looked into the DVBDream encoder that has been created??

It works AMAZING... DVBDream is much more stable than Mytheater, and the plugin has automatic EPG importing (and will even combine it with the existing Zap2It lineup), Does Radio channels, h.264 channels. It's almost perfect at this point.

I did actually take a good look at the DVBDream encoder prior to looking at modifying the functionality of the existing MT Plugin. I wasn't sure that I wanted to get back into this space again and in fact I'm still not sure that I do.. I found the usability, setup & performance of the DVBDream plugin to be very good. But with the H/W setup that I have ( TT S2-3600 USB Device & various plugins ) there appeared to be a few issues in regards to getting a good signal hold on various channels with the resultant recordings skipping or missing frames. I noted that when I watched 'LiveTV' via DVBDream I had similar issues - so I'm assuming that the problem wasn't the custom recording engine of the plugin.. When I switched back to use MT to view & record the same channels I didn't see any of these issues with my H/W Setup..

So that's how I ended up here - again. Given the feedback I've gotten in regard to resurrecting this project is somewhat underwhelming at this stage I'm thinking about taking another serious look at the latest version of the DVBDream plugin to see if it resolves some of the issues I encountered the first time round..

Cheers

Peter

I finally bought sagetv and MT, now i have few questions before installing the plug in.

Is the download link on the first page still the latest? Is the setup document on the first still good? Thanks,

They are for now. I've updated the plugin to be able to record native TS for both MT 3.38 & MT 4.X.. Hopefully I'll be able to post a test version this weekend..

Thanks, I installed and configured based on the documentation. I am not getting the picture. When i go to the program guide, and select the channel, I am getting:

"There was an error playing No Data: ERROR(-10): No encoders can tune the selected station" Any idea? Thanks,

Edit: I map to the same channel number as in MT Favourites, now i am not getting the above error. But it says "NO Data", no picture, no sound. Picture, sound is working okay in MT directly, but not through SageTV.

Also I have few questions.

1) I have few channels are common between two different sources, but sage shows only one set. Should I rename the channel to something different to show both?
2) quality on MT is very bad, sagetv is much better. With this plugin, does it retain the decoders from MT, or will it use sageTV?

I don't know the answer to your first question, but the second one is fairly simple to answer.. The plugin is simply recording the stream provided by MT, so there are no settings that carry over from your MT setup into SageTV. What do your log files look like?

As an update to where the changes are currently at. I've run into a few issues in the MT 4.0 beta related to extended times for changing channels & starting recording.. I'm currently trying to work out what they're due to.. In at least one case it does appear to be a code change made in an underlying DVBCore API call..

Cheers

Hi Peter, just to let you know I have been using your plugin for well over a year. It works beautifully. The only two requests I would have are the following:
1. speed up channel changes (even 3-4 seconds would be a world of difference)
2. modify plugin to allow for the satellite radio stations to work (the dvbdream plugin does this now).

Thanks for any consideration you give these requests

There's no channel with this channel number defined in the MyTheatre DB that's included in the SageTV favourite. You need to check & verify your MyTheatre channel configuration and then ensure that the Channel Numbers match your lineup within SageTV.

Cheers

No Worries.. Switching from recording PS to TS significantly improves channel change speed.. At least it does on my rig whilst I'm currently testing. Unfortunately, there do appear to be some issues in this area with the MT 4.x beta that I'm currently looking at..

The radio station issue is something I'll have a look at to see if there are any improvements available when working with TS streams.. I'm unfortunately limited by the functionality available within MT to make a workable solution.

Cheers

Peter
