Oddly, I have yet to lose signal with your new dll. I will wait until it happens again before I setup cycling.

i never experienced this w/ 3.12 version so hopefully this querk will weed itself out..

Oh and FYI, a great unexpected side effect with using your plugin. I watch some of the DVB recorded shows on my mediaMVP via matts sage client. In the past, with Anders plugin ffw/rrw etc was broken. Using your plugin has no such side effects! Would this be because you utilize a newer DVBcore? The moons have aligned? I dunno, odd but good..

I.

I do this via the command "<MyTheatre-Home>\ MTStart /toggle /card2 /set /chnum 4" - Either as a scheduled task or by Suspend & Resume Events in Hip.

In regards to the log output - This is fairly normal. The way the DVBCore API is implemented is that within the plugin you make the API call to change the channel ( which provides no indicator of success or failure ) and then catch the relevant MT command event in a seperate callback routine in the plugin code. As such the Channel Change & Recording Start are two actually two seperate asynchronous events.

I finally got it to work just by deleting all my channels and rescan only one transponder so it gave me 15 channels then i add these channel to my SageTV favorite, add a new source in Sagetv without epg and all the mapped channel we're working. I the scan all the channel in Mytheatre (356) and get back to Sagetv and add a source with epg for Dish and now nothing work i always got this error again: ERROR - No Matching MyTheatre details found for SageTV Channel No : i have included an attachment of my channels.mdb screenshot i have so some help will be apreciated.

Not sure if Insomniac has been able to help you out, but I've been offline for a while

On face value, it would appear that your MyTheatre channel lineup doesn't match the one you have setup in SageTV. Can you please post your log files? Ensure that you have turned on Indy, MyTheatre, SageTV and Debug trace in the ini file.

Cheers

Hi,

I'm experiencing some problems. MyTheatre tunes my Twinhan DVB-S card just fine, but when SageTV asks the Network encoder to start sending the file some kind f erro occurs. Please see the log file below. I've tried with both .dll files posted in this thread, and also set the "type" field to 1.

I get a zero byte file "C:\mtsagetv\MTSageTVCard1on1270016969TVTuner-0.mpg" in the directory where SageTV wants the output and the GET_FILE_SIZE commands will go on for ever.

Yes with the help of insomniac i get it to work except for the very slow channel changing >10 sec sometime. I tried in Mytheatre and channel changing is a matter of 2-3 seconds max.

Magnus,

The BUFFER command isn't implemented in this version of the Network Encoder ( Mainly due to my lame programming ability! ). The only time this is used is during Channel Setup. If you change the 'Display Video on Menus' to 'If Active' in the 'Video Menu Options' you won't have this problem. I'll update the documentation to state this limitation.

With trying to diagnose the long channel change times for DVB-S, can someone please turn on all logging ( including Indy ) and post the resultant log files? I'll try and work backwards from this for a solution. I't would also be helpful to know who is running MT and SageTV on the same H/W and who is running in a Client/Server scenario as this may be a contributing factor. Whether you're using the trial or licenced version of MT ( and the version ) would also be good.

Cheers

Peter

Here we go

Here is my config Peter: Windows Server 2003 running myTheatre 3.26 registered with SageTV latest beta 3.0.11 on the same machine (must note that i am using SageTV MVP client but got the same issue with SageTV alone). I did a fresh reinstall of my system last night so my setup is very fresh.

Here come the log for the test i made this morning. I had to rename with extension .txt because .log was an unsupported attachmenté.

I hope that will help !!!

Do you see signal in the signal indicator on MT or from within the MTsagetv plugin? Also, have you disabled all but 1 cpu from withing MT's general settings?

I.

Crap is Crap

I tried eveything i could imagine to make this plugin work but i have to admit it is working like crap with my setup. The only thing that will get the plugin to work is that way: First i start myTheatre and after that i start SageTV, the first channel tuning will work but not the second so i click on the tray icon of myTheatre to bring it back on the desktop then change channel in Sage and now it work, i can put back myTheatre back to the tray and itwill still work as soon i restart one of the application. So to make it work alone without my intervention is not possible right and i don't even talk about the slow channel changing, by the way Peter i made some more test and when i change channel in Sage i can see that after about 1-2 seconds myTheatre switch channel too but it still take about 8-9 seconds to get the video in Sage. One more question to Insomniac: I got many channel with Dish that do not work and when i look at S2emu plugin monitor it says Wrong Key No Rom.bin file so i put every file from a rom101 in the folder but after that it says Autoupdating and the key information kep changing any idea ?

The interaction between SageTV and MT is not UI dependendant, as all commands are being passed via the DVBCore API or the callback function between the plugin and the main MT process. As such, I'm unsure why focus on MT would have any effect.

By looking at your log files, I did find a bug related to switching between filenames which should be rectified in the attached version of the plugin. Also corrected in this version is the dependence on channel type in the MT database and the duplicate channel name issue. I've also added some extra logging for MT DVB-S commands in an attempt to determine why channel changes may take so long.

As a general comment, if anyone is using a non-licenced version of MT ( which I don't advocate ) instead of the trial or the fully licenced version, there is no guarantee that those modified versions of the DVBCore.dll will function correctly or consistently with plugins or provide full MT functionality.

Cheers

Peter

FYI - I've done some limited testing on the new version of MT, Version 3.30, and nothing appears to be broken in the plugin as yet.

Just tried the new DLL on version 3.3 and it works great. Thanks peterjb

I have a DVB-S Twinhan 102G viewing Dish and the channels changes acording to the logs take around 3-4 seconds which isnt that bad at all.

Good Work. I like MT but i find it s few steps back compared to SageTV.

I just have one question. If any of you are setting up your guide to match your favorites in MT. How are you matching it up with the guide in SAGE?

For Example I want HBO (Dish Channel 300), MTV (160)and G4 (192 )in My Favorites I have them and HBO 300, MTV 160 and G4 192 but I can't get the guide to match up.

Thanks

FYI: I just installed another card (102g) on another machine with an instance of MT3.26 to see if there were any changes on speed. Same response times.

my other machine has a SS2 in it w/ 3.27

Good News !

Just tried your new dll with my new config and now channel change seem to work all the time and channel changing take about 8 second wich is again for me too slow but better than nothing (was taking 10 sec). Just to be more detailed now i am running myTheatre on another machine which is doing only that and i am rebuilding from scratch my main htpc with Windows XP instead of Windows Server 2003 to see if i gain more speed (i made so many test on the system on Windows 2003 last week that i have no choice to rebuild that)!

For me your new dll solve a big problem and i want to thanks you for that Peter i will be available for furthermore testing and if need more log just ask for it !!

See Ya !!!

OK, I've looked at the log files ( matching the Indy and Plugin log is painful! ). From them it appears that MT does accept the command from the plugin and change channels within 2 seconds or so for your DVB-S setups.

The problem that you guys are having now appears to be related to the FileSize of the target mpeg file. It appears that the FileSize doesn't grow to a size that SageTV will play for about 6-8 seconds after a successful channel change. In fact for a large percentage of that time the FileSize is actually 0 bytes. I'm not sure if this a problem in the Plugin or in MT. Can you please manually record some channels in MT and check how long it takes the byte count in the MT main window to increment? Also, are you using any other plugins in conjunction with this plugin?

Also, from Insomiac's file there was a channel change that wouldn't stick. In this instance, from the new DVB-S log output it would appear that MT had problems changing to the channel that was playing the West Virgina vs Virginia Tech football game. MT appeared to go through the motions of channel changing by making multiple DISEQ will change/has changed calls and then sending a Channel will change event. But no actual Channel has changed event was ever sent by MT. This would appear to be a bug in MT or a problem with that particular channels configuration. Could you check that you can pick up and record this channel from within MT natively?

In the meantime I will work on a test build of the plugin that writes out the actual number of bytes that the plugin has written as they're sent by MT. It will flood your logs, but at least I will be able to determine whether the problem is in the plugin logic or MT.

Cheers

Peter
