Now two more questions:

1) anyone manage to map a remote control command to make mytheater restart (kills it and rerun the mytheater.exe)
2) Is there a way to make sagetv rescan the tunners so it can mark the ones that were 'down' to be on a workign state? (right now for example if mytheater crashes, and i try to tune, sage marks the tunner as unavailable, and even if i restart MT, sage still marks it as down, so i have to restart sage in order to get my MT tuner back online)

1) I created a .bat file to run kill.exe from here: http://www.mattkruse.com/utilities/ and the restart Mytheatre afterwards. I have it mapped to run using a button on my remote. But, I am using a Zalman case that has the remote control software w/ the capability built in to run an application from a button press. I'm sure there are many other way to do this... if you are running an MCE style remote, look into HIP, I used it in the past, it works well, and it is free.
2) I haven't found any way to do this without exiting the program, but I just mapped a 2nd button to close and restart SageTV.

I don't have to do that very often though... due to MT's not-so-stable nature, I have it set to automatically restart every morning with the other downloads that take place, and that keeps it from failing while in the midst of the recording day for me.

Nope, I wasn't aware of any beta being released.

I don't get any Mpeg4 channels into SageTV currently. I got tired of the budget cards not working properly with my DishPro Dish, and then dieing after 3-6 months, so I ponied up and bought the Skywalker and it works perfectly, changes channels quicker, and haven't had a single issue with it not working 100% stable, so it was worth it just for that.

If Mpeg4 support ever comes around, it will be a bonus IMO.

I've got my Twinhan 1027 card working reliably with MyTheatre, but now I can't get Sage to tune into any channels using this plugin. I'm very new to DVB-S so please help. Here are my questions.

1. The logs just show the following over and over. I'm assuming it's because Sage can't connect to Mytheatre, but I don't know how to fix it. I've used the guide and setup the source connection in Sage, but I don't get any channels when I change them using the Sage epg.
11/4/2007 11:51:23 PM: SageTV - GET_FILE_SIZE - Return GetFileSize : 0

2. I'm not sure what XMLTV is and if I have to have it within Mytheatre. I don't have an EPG plugin in MT because I thought Sage did that for me. Am I missing something?

MT works great alone, but I can't get the video to show up in Sage. It just says No Signal. It's probably something simple that I just don't know. Please help!

I done quite of bit of reading and am making progress, but am still stuck. Here's what I'm doing.

I use xmltv2mtepg123 to create the epg.xml file from the MT epg and channel mdb files. I then use SageTV XMLTV Importer to convert the epg.xml file from #1 into a format SageTV can understand.

Am I even on the right track? I don't want to continue down this road, if I'm not doing this correctly. Please let me know!

Even If I am on the right track, then I'm still having problems. I can get the epg.xml file to generate from xmltv2mtepg123, but no .dtd file is generated. I look at the xml and it actually references a .dtd file. So when I import the file into SageTV XMLTV Importer, I receive an error first about no programs found in my XMLTV file, which I can still click "Next" to that error. The next error is when I have to Edit Channels/Lineups/etc. When I click edit channels, I get an error that it couldn't find my .dtd file and then it throws another error saying no channels were found.

Is all of this really necessary just to get SageTV to work? How often will I have to do it? I thought SageTV had its own guide and I could just use that guide instead of going through all of this...?

AM I DOING THIS CORRECT? Please help. I have spent two weeks on this now and progress has been slow, but I think I'm almost there.

Give us some clue of where you are and what tv provider you are configuring!

Make sure the entry in your sage.properties is correct for your sagetv plugin in MyTheatre too.

You have to copy the DTD file (you can find it on my web site) in the same folder where your XMLTV file is located.

Otherwise you are on the right path. One advice: for channel numbers in the Importer use the favorite number you given to your channels in MyTheatre.

Stéphane.

Thanks for the .dtd file reference.

I thought that I explained where I was stuck...using XMLTV2MTEPG and XMLTV SageTV Importer. I don't even know if I'm on the right track using these tools. I'm trying to use this MT plugin with SageTV. I'm using a Twinhan 1027. I follow the pdf instruction exactly, but I receive a "No Signal" from SageTV. I check my log files and the following error is repeating over and over. So I thought maybe it was because I didn't have XMLTV running so I found out about XMLTV2MTEPG123 and XMLTV SageTV Importer and tried using those, but XMLTV2MTEPG123 does not generate a .dtd file, which is what I was talking about in my previous post.

I tried XMLTV2MTEPG and XMLTV SageTV Importer only to see if that would fix the No Signal problem I am getting from SageTV using this plugin. That's why I asked if I was on the right track. Was I wrong in thinking that XMLTV was causing the No Signal problem in SageTV. Below are my logs from the MT SageTV plugin. Please help and thanks for you reply!!

XMLTV has nothing to do with your no signal issues. It looks like you have MT setup on another machine and not on the Sage server ?

Actually, SageTV and MT are setup on the same box. I should've mentioned that. Thanks for your quick reply. Do you have any ideas on the No Signal issue I keep having?

how do you have your recording folders setup in Sage? Because I have seen those errors a long time ago when the MT plugin cant write to an UNC path but only to a local drive letter or mapped drive letter. Can you attach full logs to find out whats going ? and INI setup. this would be the best way to figure it out.

Ok, I've made some progress after playing with it tonight, but it still isn't right. I've attached my logs. I can only get one channel...channel 58...but I my EPG is messed up too so maybe it is trying to tune into a channel that doesn't exist and that is why nothing is coming up?

What's the best way to ONLY have the channels from the SageTV favorites show up in the EPG? Is this where XMLTV2MTEPG123 and XMLTV SageTV Importer come in?

I would have tested more channels, but it takes almost 10 seconds to change a channel...ridiculous. I realize this is not Sages fault as it does this in MT. Would a different DVB card fix this? I hope so because I just got a Skystar 2 to replace my Twinhan 1027. Is the SS2 a good choice and will it help the channel changing speed. I don't have the slow channel changing problem with my sonicview receiver.

Again thanks a million for the help! I'm ALMOST THERE!!

Is there a particular reason why your using MyTheatre and the plugin rather than the builtin DVB-S support?

SageTV doesn't support DVBCore plugins.

Any ideas, based on my previous post, why I'm only getting one channel? Also, how do I get the EPG to match my MT favorites list? And, is there a way to speed up channel changes or will my new Skystar 2 card help that? This is just a followup to my earlier post. Thanks!!

Channel changes will be slow, and that's just how it is. As simply put as it can be, SageTV has to tell MyTheater to change the channel, MyTheatre has to actually change the channel, then, the incoming mpeg2 file has to buffer for a bit before SageTV will start playback. It's a bit more complex than this, but that's why there's no getting around a delay in channel changes, and there never will be with this solution. If you can get past that, it works just fine.

Secondly, you need to delete the video source and set it back up. Make sure you're selecting TV Tuner as well.

Also, the whole importing the EPG into SageTV thing is just a mess... You're much better off finding their zap2it codes.

Within my XMLTV Importer tool, you'll have to edit your channels list. When you open the channel editor, it should display all the channels produced by the MyTheatre XMLTV plugin. You just have to type the MyTheatre favorite number as the channel number in this list.

Import the data into SageTV and go back to SageTV. Delete your video source and add it again. SageTV will ask if you want to use XMLTV guide data, choose this option and select the lineup you created in the Importer.

SageTV will download this lineups, and as the channel numbers are the MyTheatre favorite number, when the SageTV MyTheatre plugin will be asked to tune to a channel, it will use the favorite number.

If you don't choose XMLTV for guide data, but use bultin SageTV guide data, this is the other way around (if it works, I can't say for sure) : you have to make the favorite number in MyTheatre equals to the channel number in SageTV.

Regards,
Stéphane.

It works but you will have to disable the XMLTV plugin by removing XMLTVImportPlugin in the sage properties file.
