Great Work!!
I have done some testing and everything is working perfectly when I use "default" settings. But when I change "temp build dir" from C:\temp\ to D:\temp\ I got this error:

2006-02-02 16:01:01 :: Starting logging system....
2006-02-02 16:01:01 :: Java Reporter is getting DVDTopTitle for Nrhjernenspillerdegetpuss-168583-0.xml
2006-02-02 16:01:01 :: Java Reporter exited with code: 1
2006-02-02 16:01:03 :: Exit code unexpected! Aborting!

And is there any reason why the installer wants to install the plugin at the old SageTV 2.2 Path... C:\frey...\... and not the new C:\sagetv\...

Thank you so far

Henrik

I can sure look at it. At the time of planning, VideoRedo and Womble MPEG-VCR were good options because ShowAnalyzer will output the files that I need to be able to cut. Do you know if VideoPlus recognizes any of the formats that ShowAnalyzer uses?

Wow, this is my fault. I haven't tested moving the "temp build dir" yet, oops. I will look at and correct this tonight.

Is the log output that you pasted from the correct "temp build dir" though? Is there a last_command_output file in the directory? If so, is there text in there?

hehe, I started writing this back at version 2.x, so I never updated it. I'll do so.

The log output was from the kjake_dvd_create.log in D:\temp\
No last_command_output file there.

But the file is there in the C:\temp\SageDVDBuild The "temp word dir" that worked

If it doesn't and someone can provide me with a sample, I'll see if I can support it.

Wow, this was really dumb on my part. Sorry to anyone who has tried this and it didn't work at all. This is fixed in the next version and I'll be putting that up in a couple of hours (with some further progress hopefully!)

alon24, from what I can tell, VideoPlus is a TV guide source (EPG?). Am I mistaken? I can't seem to find any info on a video editor or commercial detection program called VideoPlus, can you provide more info? Thanks.

KJake, I see that down the road you are considering including burning support in this tool. Regarding that you might want to look at Command Burner.

The site describes it like this:

CommandBurner is a free CD/DVD burning software utility that can be executed from the command line, as well as through a simple interface.

CommandBurner can be executed from the command line, or through any method that passes command line arguments. Simple options allow you to burn, erase, load and eject CDs and DVDs.

This makes CommandBurner suitable for integration with programs, scripts and batch files. We imagine that CommandBurner would be useful for tasks such as scripting backups to CD/DVD, but feel free to find other reasons to use it!

Hope this might help!

I am sorry I meant VideoReDo Plus http://www.videoredo.com/

I meant to run the files through it, to crop the commercials and then burn the files.

Yup, I am planning to support VideoReDo and Womble MPEG-VCR. I think those are the most popular programs.

Hi again

The new version seems to work flawless. The only thing I could find has to do with the title menu. When a TV-show has a lot of information the menu looks a little messy. Not a big error, and I can live with it, but I thought you should know.

Have a look on the picture I've attached

Keep up the great work

Henrik

lol, yes it does! i've been testing with the same XML files for too long. Unless I decide to scale the text size down for those occations, I guess I'll just cut the text. Is that an acceptable solution?

Again, thanks for testing, and I'm so glad that it works for you too!
And I'm really happy to see it working with other languages...you didn't have to replace the font files with your versions, did you?

I'm not sure if you have it, but Nero includes an API for burning. A goodly number of utilities (open source and otherwise) have the option of using Nero's burning engine, and you can't dispute the quality of it.

Might be a good quick way to get the burning functionality up and running.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind, but I'd like to require as little as possible external requirements. I'm hoping that the simple command line util the PGPfan pointed out will work and that it is open source. Every external program that I've included is allowed to be packaged and distributed freely.

Thanks for the link, src666. The reasons that I wouldn't use Nero (not speaking for KJake) is that it isn't free. Not everyone has it. As for quality, while I've heard that it can look good, this tool is quality agnostic. Meaning that since it's not using it's own transcoding or anything then it would be just a matter of writing the same bitstream to a blank DVD. There would be nothing inherent to Nero that would make it superior to other tools in this respect.

I found some bugs last night reguarding the submenu creation. I've been assuming that there will always be three files involved, but if a show doesn't have a description, then one of the 3 files isn't created and the whole thing aborts. I'll be fixing that, along with the long description issue that Henki brought to my attention. These things should be fixed in the next release tomorrow night.

Also, I'm going to try to setup the commercial cutting and ISO burning in this next version.

I'm going to add a property to the ini file that will let you disable the burning, which will probably be a good idea for testing.

Also, I noticed the both the latest version of Meekell and the Offical STV (via Hidden Stuff) have support for automatically writing out XML files. I think I'm going to take a look at those files and rewrite somethings to use them instead. This will broaden the audience for testing. All someone would have to do is copy the XML file of the video they wanted and put it in the CreateDVD folder and run CreateDVD.exe (I might even figure out how to write a silly STVi for that).

And...I think there has been a huge oversight and people may not have some java classes required for Meekell's STV to write out my specialized XML files. I'll be posting about that with the update tomorrow night.
