Sorry for the spam but I like this stv so far. I can see potential. On mine I see a populated list in upcoming recordings but they aren't items that I have set to record. I wonder if I have done something trying other stv's? Also I am streaming to an mvp but don't think that would affect it.

That menu will list any items Sage plans on recording. If you have 'Intelligent Recording' turned on, you might not recognize some of those shows. Especially when you start off the "Intelligent Recording" isn't very intelligent. It has to learn your likes/dislikes for a couple of months before it gets good at suggesting stuff.

If you want to keep it turned on (and I suggest you do, if you have the drive space for it), I would go through and 'tame' it by telling it which shows you don't like. When I started, I spent 10 minutes a week going through and setting 'don't like' on all the shows that it wanted to record that I didn't want. This will help Sage learn faster, and keep your Recording Menu from becomming cluttered with "Oprah".

Your MVP shouldn't affect this. But you should make sure you enable the "MVP Enhancements" in "Settings->Advanced->STV Enhancements". It should improve the responsiveness of your client.

Let me know if you run into anything else.

Having just put this in, my first impression is that this is a beautiful STV. Thanks Crashless! It looks like its going to be some work getting this new beta tweaked correctly. I have a long, fun weekend ahead of me that will probably stretch to next weekend as well .

it would be a really powerful integration of the best PVR solution with the best music solution IMO.

In response to the question you asked a few weeks ago I would like the new media center part of the original stv moved over to to meekell. That is the browse media option. That feature alone knocked out 90% of the reason of having meedio on the machine!

Thanks again for the theme!

Do you mean the ability to browse the Imported Video Files using the 'Folder' view, allowing you to see cover art? If so, that's definitely something I want to do-I've also stopped using Meedio's media organization in favor of Sage, so that part will be built out. If not the next version, the one after that.

If you mean a different feature, please let me know how you get to it from the main menu, and I'll take a look.

Thanks for the feedback!

Suggestion: Colors on the Recording Menu of my shows. Make the background for the recorded shows/folders that light blue color that shows up when you see "Upcoming Recordings".

That way the entire screen isn't a dull grey. Looks GREAT!!

Some form of theme design is definitly on the roadmap, as I agree that the color could be pumped up a bit. I'm hoping to eventually make every color customizeable. But for now, I'm trying to build out other features.

I will take a look at that change, though I'm afraid that once I start implementing this kind of thing, it'll be hard for me to stop....is this something you all really want? If a lot of people want it, I could move it up the list.

Show genres

Clicking on movie either in All themes or Smart themes still does nothing. I can navigate away immediately and just leaving it does not switch to another screen eventually.

OK I worked it out. At least on my setup if I click anything in the number 1 spot on the genre page nothing happens. Could it be a bug when selecting that number?

i was thinking hard about more features and a transcoding option would probablly be the highest on my list. maybe a configurable recording options menu for something like "put on ipod video" which would run a batch file to encode and move it to the ipod.

Slicky: Oh, OK good. I'm not at home, and I didn't bring my laptop - so I'll check it tomorrow, but it's very possible it's a bug.

So does the 'Movies' genre show up in spot 1 for you? This will change depending on what is in your EPG. I'm looking into possibly making shortcuts that you could put into the customizeable menu system.

Iain: This is exactly how I'm planning it. The next release could potentially be a big one.

Well, its that function thats under media center for Browse Media files that gives you the option to copy media to the library or play it from a different location. I usually keep my divx movies on CD so I just use the play function to have sage read the files from the CD. Previously the only way you could get sage to do it was to put the CD drive as a archive folder and tell it to refresh (except it remembered every CD you put in the drive since the last restart) Other than music I only used meedio to browse CDs

Hmm. Haven't used that yet. I'll take a look and see how easy/hard it would be to throw in there.

Would be nice to alter the font size in the guide, or adjust to see more lines/channels.

Also a font for 1st run on each show that is new versus re-run in the guide and in recorded shows/favorites/etc.

A few quick little bugs for you,

- When you go to change the contents of the "My Media" window and you select an item to change, the next popup box says are editing "My Shows"

- When I go into "My Recordings" with the sort mode set to intelligent and I select a folder to expand the sort mode changes to alphabetical, however, it still says intelligent.

The STV is looking good, keep up the good work.

jasondragon: I'll take a look. I think they'll be easy to do.

evilpenguin: Thanks for the report. I'll make sure they get fixed.

bug?: after watching a show, I choose delete but when returning to "recordings" the show is still there.

suggestion: does the stv know what shows you've watched after deleting? Prior to using this I Was using cayars with the numerous options after watching such as:

delete, watched like
delete, not watched, not like.
etc.

Not necessarily a bug, but maybe a misnomer. Selecting delete on that dialogue only sets the watched flag for 'normal' recordings (ie: not manual). Which basically tells SageTV it can be deleted when space is needed. Maybe I should re-word that. If you want to delete it immediately - you can select 'delete' from the detailed show info by selecting it in the recordings list.

That is a little confusing, I'll see if I can make it more clear.

As for the suggestion, I'm not sure I understand. SageTV keeps a database of everything you've watched and set don't like that allows it to be smarter about recording future shows. Adding those extra options to the end of show popup wouldn't be too difficult - but I always felt they were redundant and confusing.

As always though, because it's so easy: I'll look into making it an option.

Ah. Well thats clear enough. It marks it for deletion but saves it until the HD runs out. Perhaps an option that just says delete = permanent, or delete = when storage is low.

Also, I'm having trouble with the weather. I entered my location and I'm seeing Tonight, Wed, Thurs, Friday, Sat. Sun. When today is clearly Monday, and it should say Tuesday next. This error occured on Saturday. And its been showing the same thing since then.

edit: Weather-->removing the classpath worked. weather functions fine now, although sometimes the days dont all have a graphic.

That's an option - maybe a tool-tip type thing would help.

Re: Weather. Silly questions first: can the computer get on the internet? Oh, ok. Next option: Re-run the weather setup in 'Settings->General' and then re-start SageTV.

If that doesn't work, I had issues with it too. You can find the thread where Meekell helped me through it starting here:

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...&postcount=237

A quote from what I did to fix mine:
Quote:
if you run 'java getWeather ZIPCODE test.txt'
and get the response:

Code:
exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: getweather3

Then remove the CLASSPATH from the environment variables. I should warn all those thinking about removing it to write it down first. In case it breaks something. But it definitly worked on both my client and server.
Hopefully that'll do it. Please let me know if you get any errors that aren't covered in that thread.

Do I need to manually edit something?
