Hi Crashless,

Thanks for looking into adding support! The thing that confused me was this statement on your website listing the .stv features: "mlbdude’s External Program List (”Advanced->Configure Menu”)" which leads me to believe that it was implemented like in mlbdude's .stv, but his documentation didn't work for me either .

Thanks again!

I fixed my problem with the commercial skipping. I unchecked all types of commercial output files except for comskip and the videioredo project file and all is fine. I had about 4 of them checked before and found out the first one I had checked was causing the problem.

PGPfan: Don't thank me yet. I can see how that could be confusing. What that feature refers to is MLBDude's code that allows you to launch external programs from within SageTV such as games and firefox.

You _can_ launch a player program with that, but you can't pass it an argument containing a video file. Sorry for the confusion.

grbsaaber: How wierd. I'm glad to hear you got it working though. You might want to let Jere know about that problem. Were you able to reproduce it using another STV?

I've noticed a couple of things that aren't working correctly anymore with the newest betas. I might need to make a maintainence release to fix a few things.

I'll take a look ASAP.

Unless Nielm has made an update since July of '05, I believe I have the latest code. Is there a particular feature that you're missing?

No worries.

A news update: I just got my out date for my current job and it looks like I might be able to line up another one after a couple weeks off. Why should you all care? It means I probably will be able to work on this STV soon and update a bunch of stuff.

It won't be for a couple of weeks, but I thought it would be good to mention that work will resume soon.

Question. When I use this stv my video stutters and just runs crappily whenever I press the info button. This only happens when I play an imported video and it works fine with the default Sagetv. Any ideas on what causes that?

Hmm, what kind of imported video? What's the format? I've noticed issues with some videos, but haven't tried them with the default STV.

Yeah, those are the ones I've had problems with too...

I'll do some tweaking next week and let you know what's going on.

can you walk me through how to set everything up correctly to be able to play a DVD?

I've gone through the menus and turned on "DVD ROM" and other options. I set the decoders to the NVIDIA Decoders..

When I go under "Media" main menu option, then "Play DVD", it just sits there, nothing happens

I can run windows media player, and it can play the dvd fine, so the system is capable of it, just gotta figure out why sage doesn't want to

also, is it possible to use FFDShow to upscale the DVD if sage is the player?

Hmm, wierd. Maybe SageTV is set to use the wrong drive letter for your system. Does it work with the standard STV?

Re: FFDShow - it should be. I believe all you have to do is configure it and it works for all players. I haven't messed with it very much, but that's my understanding of how it works now. make sure you download the newest version from source forge.

i changed it back to the default STV, and it gives me an error saying there's no DVD in the drive.

I added the DVD RW drive very recently to the HTPC system that's been up and running with SageTV for a few months...
Is there something I have to configure it to tell it what drive letter the dvd drive is?

I made a post in the general SageTV forum too.. Thanks for your help, and SUPER fast response!

You'll probably get a response in the general forum before I can get home to test it for you. I believe it's a .properties setting somewhere, though I can't remember what it is. If you're ambitious, you could shut Sage down and take a look at yours. It should be pretty obvious.

yeah, i'll have a look around in the properties file in a little while. thanks for the advice.

my setup is a little cumbersome compared to some-- I have a 34" widescreen CRT TV, and a custom resolution over DVI, so my picture isn't crystal clear as it would be on a DLP/LCD/plasma/other digital display, so I have to pull out the trusty magnifier program under the windows accessories
