I keep having an issue with SA running while I am watching a show and causing the show I am watching to stutter. I have SA setup with the Web Server and it should not run while recording or playing a show, but it does not seem to work. I know the web server works, and when I press the test button in SA it looks like it connects to the web server. Am I missing anything?

Since I can not get the web server working I tried to throttle the CPU to about 10%. This also does not work very well. CPU spikes up and down from 15%-70% almost all the time.

I would prefer to just get the web server part working and not worry about the throttle, but either option working would be nice. Any help would be great. Chad.

Exact same problem here. I sure wish there was some kind of quideline/manual for all the options in SA that explained exactly what they do and how to adjust the settings for a desired effect.

I too have SA set to use the web server and testing the connection within SA says it's working, but SA never pauses, even though I have the web server setting set to pause, while trying to view a file on my MVP in the bedroom.

Throttling the CPU seems to have 0 effect. It's always using 50-75% cpu no matter what I put there and whether I turn that on or off.

Dirmon2 has a check mark to hide console window when you set up a job to run. Uncheck this and you should see your job running.
Hmm...That's interesting. I never noticed that Hide Console box before in DM2. I'm not really sure why that setting is in there, since DM2 can be used for running any number of different programs. It probably runs SA with a command line option, would be my guess. I would assume that there is a way for SA to also configure itself to run in the same way after it's been launched.

So I wonder if that option, and the run invisible option really do the same thing?

LOL, I've wondered if throttling has ever worked. It must be fairly hard to do. I finally had to move DM2 and SA to reside on my office computer, since it's doing nothing most of the time anyway. The only down side now, is that having moved (houses), I've lost my gigabit Ethernet connection, so running these over wireless-g is a bit painful. Once D-Link comes out with their DIR-855 wireless-n router, I plan to get that and a couple wireless-n adapters...

Anyway, I couldn't get throttling to work well enough to keep my HTPC from stuttering, or crashing all together, so that was my option...not that this helps...

Invisible mode is set to NO. I believe if I start SA by dropping an Mpg onto the icon it will run the status window and tray icon, so I do wonder if it could be a dirmon2 setting. However, I copied the ini file from the server with out changing any other settings other than the unc paths and running it as a user.

Part of the reason I moved it to my client.

So, If I don't use a user account, I can't scan mapped drives or UNC paths. If I do use a user account I can scan files but can not use the status window or system tray icon? This is lame with a capitol L.

You can blame Microsoft for this not Jere I think.

I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just saying its lame. I would think that there must be a work around somehow. Call a local process or batch file after monitoring the directories as a user.

I don't know, I guess I just have to watch extra close now to make sure that SA hasn't hung itself up.

I am in the same boat as rest of you. A freeze or pause in the video when SA kicks in after changing network channel.
Quite annoying but right now I can only afford 1 computer deciated to pvr and using both recording and client on it.

Beside I am waiting for that new HD extender to be release 8-)

Question ShowAnalyzer crashing

Ever since adding my Hauppauge 1600 for QAM recordings my installation of SA has been failing.. several times per hour.. I'm not sure if it fails entirely or if it just pops up an error and wants me to send the error report to Microsoft.. but after a night of activity I find that there are a dozen or more popups on the PC telling me about it!

Anybody else seeing this?? Again, it appears as if SA finishes, or perhaps starts again as I do get good .edl files... and Dirmon keeps plugging away..

Thanks!

yes ive seen this with both 1600 files and firewire recordings. I found that SA 0.9.0 works better than 0.9.1 with regard to crashing on digital files.

The CW Pisses me off. I swear I get about 95% accuracy on all other 70+ channels, but I get about 15% on any CW show.. I noticed they love to insert their channel logo even during commercials. Its a conspiracy.

I'd try out the schoolhouse but the damn thing crashes every 30 seconds.

Other then that, everything seems fine with the newer version.

Everything is fine IF you don't have an HD recordings. ShowAnalyzer & Sage recordings have problems working togethter with HD at this point.

Really? I don't seem to be having problems with HD shows and SA. I am using an older version though, 0.8.12.

I believe I'm running the latest SA and haven't noticed any issues with HD recordings. The timing appears to be off slightly... resumes from commercials about 2 seconds too early (which sometimes causes the beloved chipmunk voices).

I'm having timing issues as well.. Things are jumping in and out of shows what appears to be a couple/few seconds early.. wasn't an issue until I put in the QAM recordings..

I just rolled back to .8 and things are a little better. Not as many crashes, but still some random timeline issues. I just posted in EvilPengiun's SageMC Video Tools 3.0 thread regarding VideoRedo's Quickstream Fix. It always solves my timeline issues. Why can't commercial skip just be easy
It's the one and only thing I miss about BeyondTV.
