This begs the question: why do I have grey borders. I now have the HDHR recording HD shows also. SA won't process them. If I select aspect ratio source, they look the same as the STB HD to Analogue shows...borders inside of borders....

Just got back home from a three day trip...Had about 20 SA icons in the tray. Ran the mouse over them and they all disappeared.

OK - so we confirmed its not just me. I do know if you disable the tray icon - at least for now the problem goes away until its fixed. That did work for me.

Can you elaborate on "SA won't process them"?

Never mark last/first XXX seconds of show - ?

Gotta say, I've been using the software for a while now and have loved it. The only thing I can't figure out is why when I tell SA not to process the first or last XXX seconds of a show it still does. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I've gotten reports of this from other people as well and I am actively working the issue now. If I can find and fix the problem, I will release 0.9.0 soon.

0.9.0 should be stable enough for everyone to use. Here is a change log since 0.7.11.

0.9.0 - 20 June 2007
- Fixed crash caused by 0 length packets in DVRMS files in SchoolHouse
- Possibly fixed the "leftover tray icon" problem
- Corrected timing in SMI files
- Fixed "Never mark last XXX seconds" setting
- Fixed some shady timing in DVRMS files that was causing infinite loops
- Fixed mangling of filenames when they contain upper unicode characters
- Finally fixed that annoying request for a key whenever SA is running in trial mode.

0.8.12 - 20 May 2007
- Added .tp to supported extensions
- Changed filename in VPRJ files to use a back slash instead of a forward slash
- Possibly fixed bug causing hang as SA is shutting down
- Fixed unreliable timestamps in DVRMS files
- Fixed CC decoding in DVRMS files
- Fixed hang after rewind in program stream

0.8.11 - 14 Apr 2007
- Bugfix for infinte looping on DVRMS files

0.8.10 - 7 Apr 2007
- Massive improvement to DVRMS audio sync.
- Fixed two possible crashes when the audio starts well ahead of the video.
- Made frame rate override (for txt files) more flexible. You can now use whatever frame rate you want.
- Identified edl files as possible SageTV outputs. Made edl files default to on during new installations. (They just work better in SageTV)
- Added scene markers to VideoRedo projects. This should make corrections much easier.

0.8.9 - 13 Mar 2007
- Fixed bug causing a halting of progress when a 0 byte audio packet is found.
- Fixed ignored thread priority settings.
- Fixed another problem with HDHomeRun files.
- Migrated HDHomerun fixes to the SchoolHouse.

0.8.8 - 25 February 2007
- Added option to select encoding of closed caption files.
- Added workaround for HDHomeRun files.
- Fixed memory leak in new file handle.
- Fixed bug causing sound levels lower than -100db to be ignored.
- Fixed tracking of logo valid times.

0.8.7 - 12 February 2007
- Fixed bug causing memory usage explosion with AC3 audio in a program stream.
- Increased resistance to errors in Transport Streams.

0.8.6 - 4 February 2007
- Changed class of smi output from UNKNOWNCC to ENCC.
- Corrected bug #3042 causing transport stream crash.
- Added new setting: "Limit Disk Access". This will basically throttle SA's access to the disk drive. The setting is in bytes per second and should be much more reliable than throttling by CPU.

0.8.5 - 21 January 2007
- audio.csv is no longer created.
- Completely rewrote logo detection (yes, I call it logo detection now).
- Fixed nasty cyclic shared pointer reference (causing bad, bad things).
- Add hack to deal with TS files with more than one User Private Stream mapped to a single program.
- Fixed problem when first program map isn't complete in TS files.

0.8.4 - 19 November 2006
- SA now defaults to a 2 week trial on the first install. What this means is that SA will work "out of the box" without having to get a key or decoders. After the trial is over, it reverts to free mode. If you feel you need another two weeks, the trial request page is still up at www.dragonglobal.org/trialrequest.htm.
- The SchoolHouse will save its layout, size, and postion for the next time you open it.
- Made significant improvements to how edge profiles are used.
- Added option to have the video preview keep up with the analyzer.
- Added ability to set the borders within the video preview via drag and drop.
- Added "Is Double Scene Change" to the Frame Stat window.
- Added control over the Analyzer Engine in the SchoolHouse (Start, Pause, Restart, etc.)
- Added option to have the Analyzer Engine auto start when you load a video or not.
- Fixed intermitent lockup when applying the settings in the SchoolHouse.

0.8.3 - 17 October 2006
- Finished interior refactoring allowing for different classifiers.
- No more "Depth of Analysis"! It is currently called "Preselector Threshold". Added the option to select the type of preselector. "Percentile" or "Manual". Previous versions used the Manual preselector. I strongly recommend using the percentile preselector.
- Fixed bug that would cause 100% cpu usage (50% in dual processor systems) whenever the log file was going to be written to for the first time.
- Fixed bug in SchoolHouse preventing seeking beyond 2 gigabytes in DVR-MS files.

0.8.2 - 2 October 2006
- Finished upgrading SAConfig to property trees.
- Added the rest of the normal settings to SchoolHouse.
- Added "holdoff" code to let SA ignore the last x megabytes of a file. If you are using BeyondTV 4.3 or higher set this to 5.
- Fixed bug in frame number calculations of DVR-MS files.
- SchoolHouse will now reflect the actual output, not just the individual judgements of the blocks.
- In the SchoolHouse, only the calculations necessary will be made when changes to the settings are made. Massive speed improvement!
- Split up aggressive segmentation to allow dividing on blank frames, scene changes, and/or double scene changes.

0.8.1 - 12 September 2006
- Added code to handle a file that "mysteriously" disappears (e.g. it was deleted) while SA is processing it.
- Corrected some live detection errors.
- Started preparation for new decision making code.

0.8.0 - 10 September 2006
- SchoolHouse is back!
- Many, many internal changes

Enjoy,
Jere

just logged in to my server remotely...

(by the way...how do I Ctl-alt-del to start taskmanager? I can't even do run "taskman" or click on taskman.exe from the window's directory)

About 100 SA icons in the tray, and an equal number of dialogues prompting that SA needs to quit.

So I stopped Dirmon, uninstalled SA, installed the new one, and started Dirmon again:

Only one file in the cue. It starts and prompts SA needs to quit.

This used to be such a no brainer program. Now I'm tempted to try comskip with Dirmon.

Right-click the Windows Taskbar and choose "Task Manager".

Can you run SA manually on a file? Does it still crash immediately or later? Do you have DEP turned on?

I am embarrased to say this, but some setups cause SA to trigger the "Data Execution Protection" due to the protection software. I plan on moving to another package that doesn't do that but then I would have to issue new keys to everyone and I don't have the infrastructure in place to do that... yet.

Do you have DEP enabled? If you do, does adding SA to the exemption list help?

Back when SA only had to worry about mpeg2 files recorded from a PVR-250 and only output a single .txt file, life was simpler. True that.

Thanks for the taskman shortcut...never noticed the option on the taskbar before. For now my server has locked me out via Remote Desktop and VNC. I think something went awry with SA. I'll take a look at it when I get home this afternoon.

Jere,

Before I got locked out, I tried opening the one file in the cue manually. It gave me the "needs to close" prompt immediately. I manually opened a file that had already been processed and it went zipping along untill it was almost finished. That's when remote desktop locked me out.

Thanks

It would seem that SA has a problem with that specific file. Any chance you can send it to me? I have an FTP server just for cases like this. If you can, let me know and I'll send you the details.

Thanks,
Jere

I've looked at the problem a little more since being home. Don't want to send the file...huge 3GB and it would take forever.

It seems like dirmon would periodically see that this file needs to be processed, start SA and immidiately generate the "needs to close" message. The icon gets left in the tray. This process repeats because SA can't process the file.

The file is a stream from the HDHR, and it's very choppy, and skips alot. Barely watchable. The stream is OTA and I'm not sure if it's related to the station or my signal strength. I'm going to play around with the antenna location a bit.

Since SA immediatly faults out then you wouldn't need to send me the whole file.

I guess I could send you just the beginning of the file. What application do you recommend to edit and just save the first 2 minutes? I've got Nereo...

edit: deleted the file after I watched it. 7 zip had alread compressed some of it. I'll send the first three volumes..can you use that?

I recommend WinRar. No really. Stop laughing! The cool thing about WinRar is that if you only have the first XX volumes, then WinRar can do a "keep broken files" thing that gives me a perfect copy of the front of the file. If those volumes aren't enough then you could send the next couple and I get a slightly bigger chunk of the front. It's great!

Unfortunately, 7zip can't do the same thing so those three volumes don't really help.

I was having SA crash a lot with this version. It was a fresh installation on a new system, and I copied my settings files from the old system. I thought everything was fine, but I would VNC to the server and would be prompted with a bunch of SA must close dialogs. I just deleted my settings files and re-keyed them by hand and I think SA is working better. I'm not sure what was so bad about my old settings files, but thought I'd post it. I'll watch it for a day and see how things go.

If anyone else sees this, I'd appreciate a copy of the old files so I can figure out what the problem is.

Thanks!
