At least in my case, I am sure that the recordings are old and not active. Since SA is "catching up" on the long recorded programs since the EDL files don't exist.

Maybe there is more then one issue we are talking about...

One problem I see, is that if you happen to have a show that is having SA process it, you cannot delete the show. I have to wait until SA is finished with the file before it can be deleted...

It looks like it is deleted, but reappears after a few seconds...

bug...

I've been fed up with SA hangups and 0 size files. Decided to complete uninstall/reinstall. Made sure the process was uninstalled and rebooted. Downloaded most recent versions of DirMon and SA.

Lost some settings...no big deal.

Noticed in the SA settings for setting channels to not process, that if I want to edit a line I've previously entered the fields don't display in the dialgue correctly.

I have given up completely on it until I see something that says the 100% CPU hangs at the end of processing files is fixed. Not related to anything concurrent with Sage running.... I can re-create it every time, if I had a debug build or something I can figure out what it is and offer to the author...

Try the latest build of SA on the site (0.8.12). I've been working with Jere for the last month or so on this issue and the dev/debug build I'm running appears to have addressed this issue. Through a series of debug builds we were able to identify where the problem was and Jere fixed it. The build I've been running for over a week now has not exhibited the loop symptom yet and I've been running SA after each and every recording. I think 0.8.12 contains the fix that I'm running so give it a try.

HTH...

This is getting bad. Maybe it's operator error.....

First off, here's my DirMon and SA config files. Anyone see any problems? DirMon seems to be fine kicking off SA.

Like I said, these are all the most recent versions. I deleted all the messed up .edl and .txt files and turned it loose.....

Here's a success...what I would expect the resulting .edl (renamed to .txt for upload) and the associated .log file.

Las Vegas was recorded from ch 48, an analogue channel.

Failure....

House was recorded from ch 434, a HD channel on my STB, but it's not an HD file. It was recorded from the Super Video output to my 500MCE card. My cableco's SD networks are in the analogue tier and they look like crap.

I haven't changed any sage properties relating to changing the timestamp or the file type to .ts.

What's going on here?

Well, the previous 2 only had bug fixes for DVRMS files so I didn't think anyone here would be interested.

Although you're absolutely right, my visits to the Sage forum have been sporatic. I'll get better.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce this bug. That's why I was sending some special builds to Slugger. In the end the fix made no sense to me (waiting on a thread that has terminated shouldn't block at all). I only put into the release notes because Slugger indicated that the problem hasn't resurfaced.

If 0.8.12 continues to hang on you, PM me your email address and you and I can do the same thing.

Just wanted to add:

The latest beta works flawlessly for me. Before hand SA was crashing on about 1 of 4 1080i recordings. I had the new version run on a couple of recordings that didnt work before, and they detected commercials perfectly.

I've taken a look at the file you sent me. A couple adjustments to SA's settings and I got perfect commercial detection.

It appears that some top and bottom bands are being added to your recordings that are grey instead of black. Since those bands are always there, SA never sees a blank frame. I adjusted the borders so that SA would ignore those bands and everything worked great.

To summarize, you need to change your top and bottom borders to 64 and your left and right borders to 12. That should take care of you.

Jere, I think you got it on the latest as far fetched as it seems. Its been running for 20 minutes now, would have never got that far in previous releases. What IS happening, however, is I am getting leftover tray icons after each run (when I run over them with the mouse they disappear) - this is the typical symptom to a force ably ended processes (i.e. task manager - end process). I am assuming this is a side-effect of the change you made to end the process... I don't know if it will be a problem, I guess not - but I dont know what happens when you get tons of them in the tray over time....

I will keep you posted.

Thanks again!

Or, what I like to call "Silent Crashes".

I don't think so because by the time SA gets to the point where I made the changes, the icon should be destroyed. This is probably a whole new bug.

Is it reproducable on a specific file? If it is that would be very helpful.

Jere

Well, I think its nearly every file, but not all files. This also matches the pattern of the big. It was *almost* every file but not all files that it hung on. So I bet the one's where it would hang is the one were the tray icon gets left.

I guess I can just turn the tray icon off in the config? Or, would you rather I try something first?

Has slugger reported anything similar? Maybe he does not have the tray icon enabled?

I turned off the tray icon and the problem is now hidden

Question: Is there a way to still have the status window appear, but always minimized? Since this is running on the console if we decide to watch TV what is the best way to keep it hidden WITHOUT using the tray icon?

If minimize on run does not exist yet maybe its a good (and quick) option to add and make it settable in the config?

Sorry. Not possible now and even if it did start minimized, it would still steal the focus and interfere with SageTV.

Over the past couple years, I have improved and learned as a programmer. Sometimes I look at old code and think "What was I thinking?" This is one of those cases. The next version of SA should fix this permanently.

Thats OK, this release for me is night and day to the old. It actually processed everything - very happy overall!

Thanks for your hard work!
