Keeps redoing files

I had to turn SA off for a while just because I didn't have time to deal with this problem. I installed the newest build and its still doing the same thing.

The problem is that it keeps redoing the same files over and over again. It seems to be only shoes that I have archived, but i can't confirm that because it never gets to newly recorded stuff. I had SA & Dirmon2 working perfectly for months and then it just started doing this. (Don't remember if I updated it before it started doing this)

The shows it keeps redoing are not new, they have been archived for months/years, so it never had a problem dealing with them before. I have DIRMON2 set right... to skip mpg files that already have txt files, but it still redoes them.

I scoured this thread but nothing was found. Any ideas??

Thanks

Are you using DM2 as a service? If so, I'd try stopping, uninstalling, installing, starting. I've had issues between upgrading, and what not, and sometimes that was all it took to fix something.

Using version 7.5.244 I am having trouble with SA not finishing and clogging up the DIRMon queue. SA just sits there with 0 CPU, and sometimes I cannot even kill the task.

Is there a way to set an IDLE timeout in either SA or DirMon?

What version is that? 0.7.11 is the newest. It fixes a bug where it was getting hung up if the "Invisible" mode was selected.

I also believe there is a timeout option, think it is in DM, but not positive.

I'm pretty sure I fixed that bug in 0.7.9. The latest version (0.7.11) has been reported as very stable, so you may want to upgrade to that.

I've been having a problem for quite some time. Maybe someone can shed some light on it. I have searched the forums here, and also over at dragon-global, but didn't turn up any leads.

What I am experiencing: ShowAnalyzer consistently skips commercials about 10 seconds early, and also ends them 10 seconds early. For example, I'll be watching a show, and before the show actually hits a commercial, it will skip forward, and begin playing again in the middle of the last commercial before the show starts again. It seems as though the commercial length has been detected correctly, but has been shifted "to the left" about 10 seconds.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this? It seems to have started about the time of the 0.7xx series (or it may have been the 0.6's, I can't remember). I have uninstalled completely, and reinstalled before. It's gotten to the point where we disable automatic skipping because we're always missing that little bit at the end of the segment. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

This "padding" is adjusted in the setup dialog for the comskip import that you use. See if you have a commercial start delay and commercial stop delay set.

I checked the setup, and wasn't able to find an option for padding within the STV itself. I also went back and played a few recordings that are fairly old, with comskip files of a corresponding age. They are spot on, which is why I think it's something that has happened with the more recent analysis.

I've had some crashing issues as well, but I don't follow the logic. Do you have to have logging turned on for this to work?

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but for the life of me I cannot get anything to show up in the systray while SA is running. I have tried setting Invisible Mode to No and Systray to yes but it doesn't work for me. I also tried turning on the status window but that does not work either. I have version 0.7.11.28.

Thanks

If you are running SA via DirMon2 then you will have to use the LocalSystem account and turn "Allow interaction with Desktop" on.

Not launching the service at startup

I am using Dirmon 2 and the latest comskip. Whenever I reboot (which seems to be frequently these days) I have to launch Dirmon 2 and start the service... Any thoughts?

That worked however, I think I had it set to a specific user so that the file cleanup worked properly. Will I start having a problem with that now?

Ok. I finally have an update. The 0.8 versions should be considered extremely experimental for now.

So what is the update?

As of v0.8.0, SchoolHouse is back and MUCH better than last time! I welcome and ask for any feedback that can make it better.

As of v0.8.1, I added some code to let SA close gracefully if the video file "disappears". I cannot replicate the behavior so the fix is theoretical, but "in theory" it should work. Anybody want to test?

Since I don't consider it stable enough for general public consuption, I'm not putting the link on the SA page, but you can find the link here: http://www.dragonglobal.org/forums/showthread.php?t=475

And... just for completeness... here are the notes:

0.8.1 - 12 September 2006
- Added code to handle a file that "mysteriously" disappears (e.g. it was deleted) while SA is processing it.
- Corrected some live detection errors.
- Started preparation for new decision making code.

0.8.0 - 10 September 2006
- SchoolHouse is back!
- Many, many internal changes

Enjoy and let me know how it works for you...
Jere

I am trying to get SA 0.7.11 working... It seems to be working, but the files produced are a .d2a file and a .txt file. The newer sage stv import requires the edl format... Is this .txt a edl format file, or is there some setting that needs to be set in SA?

EDIT: NM, figured out you have to change the output format to Mplayer in SA.
