I have the purchased/registered version. I didn't delete the free decoders though, maybe one of them is still being used????

Delete them and see if you get an error. If you do, uninstall and reinstall and then reenter your registration information. See how that does.

Since SA can now at least detect that a file is a TS file, would it be possible to have an option for it to drop some sort of dummy file that directory monitor could then use to fire off comskip since it will process TS files at the moment? Say have it create a dummy .txt file, and a dummy say .tsp (TS Present) file. That way we could use SA for our standard definition stuff, and the most current comskip for the transport streams. I know I'm starting to watch more and more HD content, and would really like to be able to skip commercials in that content. And alternative would be to have directory monitor have the ability to talk to the Sage webserver, and apply rules similarly to how SA does, and say have it fire off SA on channels XXXX-YYYY, and comskip on channel ZZZZ. (Right now, I do it manually from work).

This is probably all quite possible, but I think Jere is planning support for .ts files anyway. This would be a fix for a problem that is scheduled to be fixed anyway. Plus, he is rewriting dirmon so that you can have multiple decoders, presumably with different criterea, You could then make your HD tuner only record on a specific folder (I think its in the properties file), and have that folder processed by comskip instead of SA.

Why not put .ts in the ignore list and create a batch file to launch comskip to process any non processed .ts files and set it as a scheduled event. If you look way back a couple of years there were similar batch files created to clean up orphan files. You might have to look deep though.

The only problem with the latter part would be the fact that the firewire encoder doesn't store the files in a .TS file, it's a TS file with a .mpg extension. And while I'm confident that Jere is going to get TS processing eventually, I wish I could get something working now . (The couple files I've tried have a much worse detection rate than SA with the latest comskip, VERY hit and miss. Detected like 3 commercial segments in last nights American Idol (yes, I know, but the wife watches it), but none of those were actually commercials. SA processed that same file in SD just fine, and was almost spot-on).

Would anyone like to send me a TS file? Preferably just the first 300-400 meg of several recordings. Different channels, different settings, etc. I have 8 hours of watch Friday and I'll be able to devote most of it to working on TS support. But only if I have samples.

Thanks,
Jere

If only I could get HD capture working, I'd be more than happy...

Jere:

I recently made some updates to my HTPC which included updating Nielm's webserver from 1.6 to 2.6. I forgot about SA's version dependence at the time I did so.

SA has not worked right since. I configure SA with the "Stop scanning when playing" box checked. With Webserver 2.6, SA stays paused just about all the time with that box ticked.

Any chance of an update to SA to be compatable with Webserver 2.x (assuming that is the problem since things were OK before)? If not, guess I'll have to roll back.

Regards,
DFA

I have every intention of adding support for the new webserver. Life is just a little busy right now. It is very high on my todo list.

Thanks Jere. When you get to it is when you'll get to it.

I just wanted to also be sure that the issue is known. Some posts back in this thread I think it was reported that all was well with WS 2.6 and SA. Perhaps in some regards but not all it seems.

I have the latest versions of both SA and the webserver and have not had any problems. Or have I? Maybe I should take a closer look?

My understanding is getting information about a show works, but the status monitoring doesn't.

Exactly (status is no longer correctly passed).

It seems to me that with a little help from Nielm, he could provide an interface for SA for the little bit of data that is needed from his Webserver that could remain static with regard to other updates and revision releases he might do for WS in general. This would stop it from being a moving target for SA and requiring re-visits by yourself.

Not so amazing race

SA did a pretty lousy job on "The Amazing Race".. Does anybody have a good setup for broadcast cable USA settings? SA has been dead on in many shows, but I was very disappointed with The Amazing Race.

Anybody else have bad results on that show.. and/or have suggestions for better tuning SA for it?

Thanks!

if you are running the latest SA you could set your Depth Analysis to a lower number. It will process the recording slower but may catch the black frames better.

Show Analyzer - DirMon not working for me yet

I just installed Show Analyzer version 0.6.2.214 & DirMon version 0.2.3 on my Windows 2000 workstation, running SageTV version 4.0.0.56, and could not get it to work yet.

When I run DirMon, there are two files that are created, with the extensions EDL and TXT.

The TXT file creates this output such as:

FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE
------------------------
13040 17239
26167 32054
41722 45322

However, when attempt to playback the video, no commericals appear to be 'marked', and no commericals are skipped.

The DirMon source extensions are: mpg, mpeg
The DirMon target extensions are: txt, log, ccyes, ccno
The DirMon Processor 1 configuration is:
Does exist <blanK> OR <blank>
Does not exist TXT AND <blank>

In the past, I have used Comskip.exe, which did work to skip commericals.

I must be missing something in the configuration.

What configuration changes should I make to get DirMon & ShowAnalyzer to work?

Dave

It seems like the ShowAnalyzer is doing it's thing. Do you have an STV (or an import that has been imported) that supports commercial skipping?

I used to use the Cayars STV. I have been using the orginal STV since I upgraded to SageTV version 4. Which STV has the commerical skipping support?
