Well, I don't seem to have any files that are giving SA problem ATM. I'll let you know and UL the file if I get one.

The number of changes from 0.5.10 to 0.6.0 was so great that I honestly forgot about all of them. Hence the short release notes.

I would like to talk about that Always/Never mark feature: An astute user may notice that it is possible to set always and never mark at the same time. That is on purpose and also what made this little feature such a beast to code. The way it works is that the always or never that has the lowest length gets priority. An example might be easier:

Say you want to have the last 30 seconds marked as commercial except for the last 1 second. (This specific example may help the 350 EOF bug) You would put 30 in the "Always Mark End" block and 1 in the "Never Mark End". The end result is that you would have a 29 second commercial that ended exactly 1 second before the end of the recording.

The same applies for the beginning blocks.

If that didn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify some more.

Jere

Ain't that just the way of things.

It makes perfect sense and in fact, since I'm using a 350, I've got mine configured to not mark the last 60 seconds as a commercial. That's the only selection that is checked.

Trouble is that it isn't doing anything, the last 60 seconds continues to be marked as a commercial anyway. This is with 0.6.1 running and I looked in the .ini file to double check the options, they look right.

i think someone already mentioned it to Jere a couple of pages back. From what i gather it should be fixed in the next release.

Jere.

The feature works great for what I wanted. I just wanted to leave the first 180 seconds, and last 180 seconds of a show "never marked as a commercial," and it works wonderfully.

Question. (Also, could not remember if this is an SA or DM setting, so forgive me in advance, if it's a DM setting...)

Is the "Process while writing to disk/Process during recording" (couldn't remember exactly what the wording is on it) broken? I noticed while watching a show that was still recording (only had about 15 minutes left in an hour long show), that no commercials were marked. It wasn't until after the show had stopped, that the commercial marks showed up.

I haven't checked my settings in a while, but I haven't changed those settings in particular, so unless they were reset by default during an install, then I'm not sure the settings have changed from when it worked.

The STV seems to be updating, because the marks just eventually showed up, but not until after the show had stopped recording.

Just a small thing, but when I upgraded to the 6.x version it didn't retain the license settings.

Also, mine wouldn't process any files and crashed with an application (DrWatson) error. I had to go back to 5.1, which works pretty damn well.

Am looking forward to trying the next version, the commerical detection works so well I can't think of a recorded program that hasn't had the commercial breaks set right.

I noticed the same thing, except mine did it when going from 0.5.10 to 0.6.0. When I upgraded to 0.6.1, it didn't happen again.

I don't think mine has ever remembered the registration. I got a readme file so I can cut-n-paste quick

We think alike. I didn't realize it didn't remember the registration until I was getting errors from SA, saying it wasn't registered...

Hard to see when SageTV was over the top of the error messages...

Jere -

I upgraded to the latest neilm webserver version tonight and the latest version of SA (worked fine until I upgraded the webserver) is failing to connect to the webserver to get additional show information. Is there something I need to configure differently or is SA not yet compatible with the latest webserver version?

I can neither confirm nor deny SA's compatiblity with the nielm's latest webserver. I haven't had time to upgrade so I'm not sure. Sorry.

I'll put it on the todo list.

I have Webserver 2.4 running no issues. Haven't tried 2.5-the latest.

Spoke too soon...

Errr.. I spoke too soon when I stated I had no problems.. didn't know the LATEST version of the webserver was version 2.5.. so I updated it this morning (Very cool by the way).. and it BROKE SA 6.1!!

So, I guess I'm off the "No Probs" list and on the "Confirmed won't work with SA 6.1" list..

After getting Jere's reply last night I went back to 2.4 and it worked fine. For the time being I am using 2.5 on my client and 2.4 on the server. The big draw for me on 2.5 was the intelligent selections enhancement, which I can look at on the client with impacting SA on the server.

I would say that version 0.7.0 will have preliminary support for TS files and that most of the 0.7 series will be TS bug fixes.

So, anyone that wants to start sending TS files for me to use in my development and testing, step right up!

Nielm has released yet another version of the websever 2.6 which works beautifully with SA 0.6.2.214 You can remove this from your to do list for the time being.
