Jere,

I just installed the latest version and ran it on my sage folders (Note I have only HD recordings). Crashed on 100% of the files. I got a blank .txt file.

Would you care to share one of those files with me?

Are they HD TS files, or PS files? SA doesn't work on TS files as of yet... (I'm patiently waiting ). It DOES detect them though, and drops a 0-byte file so it won't try to process again..

heffe, that raises a good point.

ldavis, could you explain what you mean by "crash"? Is there an error dialog? Is the icon in the system tray stay there but disappear as soon as you move the mouse over it?

Jere

These are ps files. 5.10 would process them but would not detect commercials very consistently. There were no error dialogs. It just proceeded to to process each file (about 15 hours of HD in 15 minutes most with a frame rate of 0) and left me with blank .txt files. I guess "crash" is going a bit far. I would love to send you a file but even a 1/2 hour show is going to be 4+ gigs. Where can I send it?

Odd, I have around a dozen or so episodes of 24 off A&E and haven't had any problems.

Have you tried running SA on another computer to verify that it's not a hardware problem? I had a CPU that would cause SA to crash, but ran rock solid otherwise. I swapped out the CPU and the problems vanished.

SA works on other files that I've recorded. I've only noticed that my recordings that have the problems usually are 24 from A&E.

Where can we dl the last (not latest) version of SA?

I'm a paid user, and the new .6 seems to get stuck on a lot of my files. The problem may be in the files as I have been having issues lately with my recordings, but SA .5 didn't get stuck on them... Now I get 14 hr processing times on 1/2 hr shows, which I suspect isn't right. I'd like to revert but don't seem to have the executable anymore.

If you need files to test let me know.

Thanks

It looks like these problems aren't with 24. I had a ton of problems with 5.x and these recordings. Now it seems like a couple episodes of The Colbert Report and a couple episodes of SG1 and American Chopper are causing the crash. The funny thing is that i have other episodes of the same show that process fine I've isolated the files and can run whatever tests needed to debug.

OK, not to pile on poor Jere, but I too have a lot of problems with 0.6.? with regards to PS files. Most just crash out, but the few that do complete do not have good results, for example it may only find a single commercial break. I tried 0.5.10 on this particular one and it did find all the commercial breaks. I can upload a file also if necessary.

thanks for you hard work!

Just change the version number in the link from 0.6.0 to 0.5.10. I left it up just in case.

I would appreciate that!

ALL UPLOADERS: Please create a directory named in some manner that I can connect you with that file. Put your file in there. This will help me keep the files connected to the issue. Thanks!

Hey all,

I wanted to make a statement about the issues the 0.6 versions are having. SA underwent a MAJOR rewrite between 0.5.10 and 0.6.0. There are bound to be issues and I appreciate all the bug reports so I can get SA back up to par. The rewrite, while currently problematic, allows me much greater flexibility in the methods of detection that I can implement and was necessary for SA to continue to improve.

I have left 0.5.10 up for download during these difficult times. All you need to do is change the version number in the address to 0.5.10.

Again, thanks for your patience.

Jere

That is to be expected. Even though they are the same show, there are difference in the encoding, timestamps, layout, etc.

Is TS decoding still on the radar, or is that a long way off still? I'm starting to record more and more stuff in TS format. (And before anybody says change Sage so it records PS instead of TS, can't do that with the firewire cable box method of capture...)

Just the fact that SA doesn't get hung on TS files is a big plus though, I hated manually creating the .txt files to make it skip past 'em .

Correct. My ftp server can hold 20gig so it shouldn't be a problem.

To Jere for the "Don't Process First __" and Don't Process Last __" as commercials feature! Looking forward to using it. Now I won't have to keep switching Auto ComSkip on and off like I normally have to do.

I didn't even realize the feature was added until someone mentioned a problem with it! Letting us find easter eggs in your software now?

More TV, Less Commercials...
