Question Reset to Defaults?

Like a dope, I never wrote down what the default settings were with SA before I started monkeying with it..now it is an a 'bad' way! Is there an easy way to reset all the settings to default?

Thanks!!

Copy your current stv file and rename it. Make sure it is writable and load it up...your UI will be the same. Next load the following import from the setup/advanced menu in SageTV...

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12194

This is Neilm's comskip playback import.
I did this, and it works, but the UI changed quite a bit. It's not terrible, but I much preferred the basic one...

Just delete the .ini files. Then run SAConfig and select Save All. They will be recreated with the defaults.

Jere,
As your working on the TS version of SA, could you add the ability to detect side bars in the stream? Currently for all my HD programming all the commercials have black bars on the sides, while the show is wide screen. For me this would be 100% detection. In a few years I'm sure this will change as commercials got widescreen.

thanks,

Already in place. The next version will have aspect ratio detection that checks all four sides and will detect exactly the kind of change you are talking about.

Hey Jere - any way to tell SA or Comskip to process manual/fav recordings before intelligent recordings ? Maybe via the webserver ?

I have IR turned on and SA never gets a chance to get to my favs.

I had forgotten to make my copy of the v3 stv writable, so for some reason it defaulted to the v2 stv and UI.

All fixed.

ABC and last nights 'lost' episode

I don't know if this was a Los Angeles thing, but did anybody else get screwed up comskip for last night's Lost? There were several things done in that episode that might have caused issues... the first one I list is something that might be a problem and perhaps is an attempt to stop us from comskipping??

1) Changed their logo back and forth. If SA only finds the first logo, it won't match the next logo that is displayed after coming out of commercial? Is it possible to have SA scan the entire episode for multiple logos?

2) Numerous fade to blacks. In this case it may be just something they did in this one episode to seperate the 'days'.

Just wondering if anybody else had issues with that episode and if anybody else noticed the network logo alternating between breaks.

-Robert

That's funny. I had just got dirmon and SA set up and this was on of the first shows I checked to see how it worked. I was very disappointed! I think SA tagged about 4 com segments in the first 5 minutes, and they were all wrong.

Settings: Is everyone using the default settings? There was a sticky at the SA download site that had "idea" settings for US that were different that the defaults, so I used those instead. I don't want to tweak either. Just tell me the best.....

I'm in the US and just use the default settings and SA is very accurate on most shows.

Same here, I use default and it works very very well.

@akenis:

A friend of mine was using the default settings and getting a lot of errors like you were. I knew that he had changed many of the picture quality settings for his TV card to get it "just right" for how he likes the videos recorded.

I suggested that he reset all the quality settings to normal for his TV card and then Show Analizer gave him very good results on all future recordings.

If you have changed any of your TV card's quality settings, you might want to set them back to default and see if that helps the accuracy.

Otherwise I think you'd have to tweak it for your location.

I've got a 0 kb file for
Medium-APriestaDoctorandaMediumWalkIntoanExecutionChamber-736364-0.mpg

I've tried deleting it, and opening it directly with SA, and it just writes another 0 KB file almost instantaneously. Does SA remember what it's already processed and just rewrite the .txt file. Or is SA having a problem with this long file name? How do I get SA to rescan this show?

See if there is a log file in SA's directory. It might give some insight.

Quite often in the morning when I check Sage, a standard Windows program crash box is on the screen for ShowAnalyzer asking whether I should report the crash. Is there any error log files created that I could look at?
Thanks

Jere

I reconfigured SA for logging level 1 and I get a 0 KB .log file and a 0KB .txt file. Should I up the logging level to try and figure this out?

The most useful logs regarding errors will be in the directory that SA is installed.

Those logs were useless as well. Just showed a call for get big and then blank. Ended up with uninstall/reinstall os SA and deletion of the default.ini. Seems like it's working again.

Is something dependant on Java. I uninstalled and updated my java at somepoint?

Nope. SA is pure C++. Statically linked, at that. So it shouldn't depend on anything else. The exception is the Schoolhouse, which depends on quartz.dll.

What seemed to have happened to you is a bug in the protection library that I use. Hopefully, this will be fixed in the next version.
