Wierd, I didn't change anything in that area. I'll take a look.

I know that I skipped at least one version between upgrades, maybe two. I think I was running .6 when I upgraded to .8, just so you know...

Is there anyway to make DirMon start multible instances of Show Analyzer? I have 2 tunner cards and when they both are recording only the first show gets marked real time, the other one has to wait till the first has completed. I know I could run DirMon on another computer to have 2 run at the same time, but I didn't know if there was anyway to do this on just 1 PC. Thank in advance.

[edit]Just curious, does anyone think I'm being too harsh on the DirMon questions?[/edit]

I guess the only comment I'd make is that the two are closely related in use, so I can understand why some people might not differentiate between the two. And the same guy wrote both programs, so....

just my 2 cents...

Memory Issue?

I've seen this a number of times... When SA kicks off, it starts working fine, but quickly the memory usage goes up to 700-800 MB. It has done this in the last 3 or so versions. I am using the newest version currently (.6 I think?).

Of course at that point, everything starts swapping to the HD (virtual memory) and the system slows to a CRAWL.

Anyone else seeing this?

Jason

This was corrected in 0.5.7. The current version (as of this post) is 0.5.8 which tends to keep memory below 50-60 meg. You can always see the latest version number in my signature.

Ok, I'll double check when I get home, but now that I think about it I thought I was using .7...

I'll let you know.

Other than the memory issue, detection has been going VERY well.

The version history shows that I only fixed one of the memory problems in 0.5.7. Another was fixed in 0.5.8.

Yeah, that must have been it.

I was using 0.5.7 .

Put 0.5.8 on, and ran a quick detect. Everything seemed fine with memory usage.

Apparently I need to try harder to stay up to date.

SA is under heavy development right now and releases are fairly common. Very few days go by that I don't work on SA for at least a few hours. I am currently trying for at least one update a week. Sometimes quicker if I release a nasty bug.

Hey, it is beta after all, right?

Actually, I've been installing them all... I must have missed 0.5.8 though.

I must be getting old and slow.

I too am having the mouse pointer appear between processing shows. At times Sage will completely lose focus while in full screen (I have to do a mouse click on it to get the remote to work). Other times the Sage window is minimized (also from Full Screen). I have the invisible mode option checked, and do not have any of the other options checked, but the SA icon still shows up in the system tray! I have unchecked it, re-checked, and done a File->Save All. Am I missing something?

Eric, I noticed the same thing, when "invisible" mode was first introduced (0.5.5 or .6?), I didn't have the mouse pointer issue anymore, however, with the most recent versions, it's back. There was some talk, possibly at the DG forums, that there was a problem with DirMon not seeing SA because it was "too invisible," and I wonder if the fix for that problem, reintroduced the mouse pointer problem...who knows...

I'm just glad SA works as well as it does, still can't believe it. My wife was just commenting on how nice the commercial skipping feature was... =)

I made some, umm..., rearrangements in how settings are loaded to make the automatic profile selection a little more flexible and I may have broken invisible mode. I have since made more changes and I may have inadvertantly "fixed" it again for the next release.

That's how it usually goes for me as well!

Let me also thank you for your hard work on this program! (And DirMon too). They really have made commercial detection a breeze.

That was a funny read. Inadvertantly broke it, and inadvertantly fixed it? I wish I could do that...
