Yes. Try an ACE inhibitor (ACE = either angry computer engineer or angiotensin converting enzyme)

Nooooo, not Eliza! That's one of the most dangerous pieces of time-wasting spy-ware you'll ever find...

What do you mean by "dangerous pieces"?

If you want to have a conversation with Eliza the therapist yourself, click here.

No, I know what I'm thinking of, it's just insidious. Biggest time-sink of my young adult life... Trying to get that program to say stuff back to you by forming what you type specifically to get what you want out of it... Spent hours playing with that program back in the mid-80's...

What is it about your childhood that you want to talk about?

As a child growing up I had only 4 channels of television. (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, and "Cable" was the thing running to the antenna on the roof) None of them went past about 1am with the Tonight show and maybe a late movie on the weekend.
There was no way to record a program (we're talking pre BetaMax here!) so you actually had to sit in front of the TV to watch a program. This subjected you to mucho ads. This also meant that if shows were on at the same time on different networks you had to choose between them.

I think that's why even today I will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with a sense of dread. I turn on the TV and see that there isn't a test pattern and only 4 channels. Then I can go back to sleep.

There I can dream of a world where (in no particular order):

There are no commercials
Shows begin/end when the guides say they do
Shows are not pre-empted by "breaking news", or Presidential Press Conf's
Every show re-airs several times a week at different times
No Survivor
No Soap Operas
No Donald Trump Combover
Sensible DRM
Open architecture for SageTv (ok this should be #1!!)
No STB's, Cable Card slots!
Cable Card slot PVR cards

The list could go on forever, and these are just some of the SageTv and general TV related dreams I have. A majority of the other dreams would have to air late night on "Skinemax"

And you think you need therapy!? You were privileged! We only had 1 channel (CBS) which came in with static on a B&W TV that only had rabbit ears instead of some fancy rooftop antenna. And, I have no idea how late it aired because my bedtime was long before then. Of course, my father just had a blank wall to stare at when he was a child growing up, so maybe I shouldn't seek therapy either...

Actually I made some of that Generic. The ABC and PBS stations came in "sometimes". Our early Tv's didn't even have fancy external rabbit ears, just the built in antennas. To this day my Mom doesn't have cable, nor a roof antenna, just a pair of rabbit ears. Although she's up to 6 or 7 channels depending on the weather.

For several years our Tv was a hand-me-down and we were pretty far out in the boonies. The power system was overtaxed and every night at about 5:30 when everyone got home and started cooking dinner it would cause the power to drop enough that the picture tube would go out on our ancient Tv. It usually came back on somewhere arount 7pm. We'd still get sound, but no picture.

Sure makes me appreciate what I have now..... but I'll still complain and dream of a utopian television experience.

And one more thing, how sad is it that we all know what Eliza is?

Geeks will rule the earth... Some would say they already do...

"the Geek shall inherit the earth" But only if there are no women on it , or the geeks are so rich the women will pretend to be interested in them.

Ok, enough of this "psycho"babble. Where's my SageTv v3?

"Does this question interest you?"

Seriously though. I think i'm going to give TVedia a stab tonight just to make my own sad little private statement of rebellion at the lack of a public v3 beta.

I just hope it's no good. If it's good then I have to start the whole Sage vs another product argument (which *always* results in me running the other product for a month, buying it, and then figuring out that Sage is better and switching back, tossing the other product onto the PVR license number graveyard

Nick.

yet another pvr software package I have never heard of... Upon looking at it, it doesn't seem to have a lot of features I would deem "required" for me to switch.

LOL, thanks. I was thinking about including my MCE config, but thought it inappropriate for the forum.
