I had a smiliar problem with ground bar noise on my projector and resolved it with a $.49 three prong to two prong outlet adaptor form the local hardware store (the kind to allow you to plug grounded cords into a old style 2 prong outlet). It may or may not help you, but it is a cheap fix to try.

And then I give up grounding anything I do that with? I don't think so! I've lost electronics in the past due to poor/nonexistant grounding. I'll suffer through with the video hum bars until I can find an acceptable solution. Nope!

Well, you just plug anything that needs to be grounded into the other outlet. It's not as if using one of those converters is some kind of crazy thing. The reason that most A/V equipment normally doesn't have the ground prong in the first place is to protect from ground loops. One of the big reasons you need a ground is to protect yourself from being shocked by something that uses a lot of electricity. You don't want to run a refrigerator without a ground because if something goes wrong it would badly shock you if you touch it. Without the ground prong, your body becomes the ground.
