Okay, after a year of not messing with my HTPC box at all, I'm looking into doing general improvements and adding some functionality. What I'm trying to accomplish is this:
1. Commercial Skipping (DirMon2 and SA, found instructions
here.)
2. Commercial Editing (VideoRedo, SageMCVideoTools, VideoEdit???)
3. MPG -> DivX Conversion (I've used VirtualDub and others to do this, but not sure)
Ideally, the show would begin recording, DirMon2 would pick up the new file, pass it to ShowAnalyzer and SA would create the .edl file. Another program (VideoRedo looked promising) could then edit the commercials out in idle time (typically 3am - 10am), and then something else could do MPG > DivX conversion.
...
Now I've got Dirmon2/SA/SageMC skipping commercials and creating EDL files.
1. I've gotten the drift that SA is about 80% fully accurate. Is this actually the case? If it is 80% is alright with me to do automatic cutting.
2. What program works the best at automatically (either itself or through DirMon2) removing the marked commercial segments?
3. What do I use to automate DivX compression? There seem to be so many options, and searching through forums on DialUp is gonna give me an ulcer.
4. Will SageMC still recognize the newly compressed DivX file in the same menu? Play>Other file would make the automation bit a little pointless.
Thanks for any answers you guys might have.
